Yo! so my first time doing this is a bit new to wiki, but I've got some evidence to disprove one of the "unconfirmed" furbys to be a fake, specifically the "furbster" (the hot wheels car) and I wasn't sure if it should be deleted or a note added? but here's the reasons its fake, I asked A few hotwheel groups, one of the packaging managers and a few friends with proto hotwheels and here's what they had to say:
The base of the car is from the "1997 HWs Crazy Classics" Speed-A-Saurus line, the specific model not having a visible serial code stamped on it, also matching the color, info can be found on the hot wheels wiki
The packaging doesn't actually have a real blister, it's a common protective case that's aftermarket and not produced by hasbro or mattel
According to a packaging designer for Matel from 1999-2001, "we had printers back then, there's no way we would glue together assets to make a package. it would be designed and printed in on piece on cardstock”
The candy wrapper around the "furbster" is a common preset on brother label makers
The top furby piece is from one of the Japanese furby whistles, most likely made by Tomy
Most toy companies are pretty strong about patents and trademarks, but when searching the Us,Uk,Canadian and Japanese database no trademark for "furbster" is found.
Another piece of evidence is the fact that Hasbro and Mattel are direct competitors, so it makes little to no sense as to why they would make this. The sourcing is also incredibly off and all of the parts come from times ranging from 1997-2008, coming from 4 separate companies.
