Please help --
Hi, my 1998 Furby was working fine. One day, he started making a buzzing noise every other time he went to sleep. He would turn on, go through a whole host of interactions and movements, and only presented the buzzing at the end of the "going to sleep" cycle. Every time, I take a battery out so it stops. I can't tell if it's a stuck gear or an electrical problem, but it has gotten worse as I've attempted to troubleshoot. Now he seems permanently stuck / buzzing whenever batteries are in.
Troubleshooting attempted:
Brand new batteries
Manual movement of ears, eyes, and mouth
Controlled smacks to try to unstick a gear to see if that was the issue
With skin off and outer casing removed, observed the movement of all of the gears I can see
Small amount of plastic-safe silicone oil on the larger white gears in the back
Soft reset
Hard reset
Anti-clockwise turning of the black gear in the lower left corner
It may be worth noting that I did get help replacing his speaker a few months ago. He was not used for a long long time before that, but doesn't show any signs of battery corrosion.
What could be the issue? What should I do?
