Hibou the Smart Owl (In versions countries of the former USSR - Owl Savva) is a Furby knock-off that was created by a company called Readboy in Indonesia. Hibou was also distributed via other toy companies in some countries.
Appearance and Functions[]
It has digital eyes that are similar to a 2012 Furby, and it can be controlled with the Hibou app. Hibou comes in a variety of patterns: blue/white, pink/white, purple/white, red/white, dark brown with a spotted tummy, etc. Hibou's faceplate is always orange. Hibous sometimes wear polka dot bow ties which can be black or pink. Hibou's appearance is similar to Popo (Furby Fake). Hibou can be switched between interactive mode and communication mode, where you control what Hibou says. Hibou can respond to phrases like the 2005 Furbys.

Hibou's App[]
In Hibou's app, you can play instruments and Hibou will dance to them. If you press the birthday cake on the app, it'll sing a happy birthday song and dance to it. They can also sing songs including a short version of Ievan Polka in their voice.

Happy Birdy[]
A Turkish-speaking version of Hibou that only came in the green and orange variant was distributed by Sabah, a newspaper agency, as "Happy Birdy". It was a limited edition version of Hibou that could only be obtained if you had 59 coupons. It comes with a golden box with an image of the Happy Birdy on the front with other text on it. The toy had its own commercial. Despite being repackaged as "Happy Birdy", Happy Birdy was being sold and advertised on Alibaba by Moral Region as "Hibou".[1]
Trivia[]
- Moral Region has also released other different versions of the toy itself including hamster, snowman (called Boli), rabbit, panda, and what looks like a penguin version with a brown hat and ears. Each version of the toy has its own name. It is unknown if the penguin version was released.
- Other Furby fakes made by this company include Little Hibou, Fuzzy Wonderz, Jack-O-Lantern, My Dark Companion, Guli Elf, and Mini Pet Hibou. Hibou has been advertised as Mini Pet Hibou which appears to be the name of another Furby fake.
- A Panda version with no faceplate exists
- Some Spanish versions of Hibou can lack bowties or a separate color for their stomach area.
- Some Russian Hibous released by S+S Toys lack bowties.
- Some Hibous in Russia were released under the name Kakadu Friends.
- The Hamster version of Hibou has been advertised under the name Clever Pet Hibou Electronic.
- The Panda version of Hibou has been released under the name Apo instead of Hibou. This Panda version of Hibou which was sold only under the name Apo can only speak Spanish. The Hibou logo is no where to be seen on its box.
- Three hard-to-find color schemes of the owl version of Hibou were released. This includes a purple and yellow striped Hibou, an orange and yellow striped Hibou, and what seems to be a version of Happy Birdy that was simply repackaged as "Hibou".
- When ordering a Hibou from the RBShop in Indonesia, you could receive a Hibou pillow with your purchase.
- There is a German version of Hibou[2]
- The pink rabbit, brown hamster and panda versions have been distributed under the name Шустрик in Russia.
- Out of all of the Furby Fakes, Hibou has the most known variations.
