Furby Connect World was a 2016 video game developed by Exient, BKOM Studios and Hasbro for Android and Apple devices that features connectivity to the Furby Connect, and the main goal is to collect virtual Furblings. The app is published on May 25, 2016 and its last update was on June 30, 2018. With the app being available till April 20, 2023. However, Hasbro updated the app to be compatible with iOS devices past iOS 10 making it compatible on iOS 11+.

Gameplay[]

In the game, you care and hatch numerous virtual Furblings. When you start the game, you undergo a tutorial and receive 3 Furblings. When Furblings are hatched, they will be afraid of the player and you will need to stroke them to raise their confidence and get them to like you, then they will jump down and be greeted by one or two random other Furblings.

Furblings will often need to be, fed, cleaned or cared for illnesses, which can be seen if a Furbling asks/motions to be fed, is surrounded by flies and walks with a miserable expression and looks at their feet in disgust, and if green bubbles are sprouting from them and if they state they are dizzy or plead for help while sneezing and coughing respectively. To care for their needs, you need items found by making your Furblings interact with various objects found in-game, including: Trees, Crystals, Water Flowers, Weeds and Clubs, these will take several minutes to do. Trees give food items, Water Flowers give cleaning items and Crystals give care items. The Clubs can also be upgraded a maximum of 4 times to allow for up to 4 Furblings to use them. When a Furbling finishes interacting, you get items and Egglets, a type of point system needed to create in-game eggs, however, weeds only take a few seconds and only give egglets. The only object that doesn't net items are Farting Toadstools, which Furblings will only bounce on and make them produce gas that will cause near-by Furblings to enter a dazed and disgusted state and faint, before getting up and shaking themselves off. If a Furbling needs care, it cannot use clubs or objects. Furblings can eventually use objects by themselves if you keep putting them on them a few times.

Tapping on a Furbling when it's not in need of care will show you its happiness status, traits and skills. You can interact with a Furbling by tapping or moving your finger across its body or ears; tapping on it will cause you to poke it, doing so repeatedly will anger the Furbling before it reverts to how it was beforehand. Moving your finger on the Furbling will either stroke or tickle it depending on how fast you move it, this will increase to Furbling's happiness to a specific amount.

To care for a Furbling, you will need to tap on them, this will make the camera zoom in on them and a menu will open on the right of the screen with the items you have for the specific treatment. Furblings will have a thought bubble with an item them want in it, though you can give them whatever you want. The amount of items needed increases with the level of the Furbling. They have five different opinions to items given, being favouriting, liking, being neutral, disliking and hating them. Giving them a favourite item will have them act overjoyed and excited. Giving them a liked food will have them happy to have it given, but won't have the overjoyed reaction they have when eating food. Neutral items are the same, but they have a neutral reaction when you give them one. Disliked items will have them show a sad look and show disapproval afterwards, while hated items are the same except they show an angry reaction instead.

To obtain new eggs, you have to fill up the Egglet meter to use a machine that looks similar to a gumball machine called the Egg Machine. You can get eggs of 4 different rarities, with bronze starred eggs being common. You'll then wait for the egg to hatch.

The game does feature in-app purchases, including Bundles containing fur (until it was removed), items, and an egg, and Nests, which will allow you to have extra spots to hatch your egg. Although the game features a waiting aspect, there is no currency to speed things up. Unlike other mobile games featuring a time-waiting/speed-up currency system.

With Furby Connect[]

Furby Connects will comment on things happening in-game. When inspecting a Furbling, it will wave and greet the Furby Connect.

There are two places exclusively used by the Furby, the Food Cannon and the Toilet. The Food Cannon can be used to feed it if it is hungry, which is observed by up to 4 random Furblings. Giving it food will often cause special reactions that effect the environment, for instance, a Furby given spicy food will need to have its tailed pulled, causing it to shoot out fireballs that set the Furblings on fire, or certain foods will have the Furby spit pieces onto the screen, needing you to wipe them off.

Furblings[]

Main article: Virtual Furblings

There are a total of 79 unique Furblings to collect. Each Furbling belongs to a different "family", usually with a theme such as Outer Space (space theme) or Youthful (emotions).

When a Furbling is born, it will have a unique name, using words from the Furbish language. For example, a Greedy Furbling named May-Kah.

Trivia[]

  • The game was originally made in XGS, but changed to Unity3D.
  • You can download the unencrypted game files here, they cannot be opened however.
  • Occasionally, Furblings will either do a randomized dance or fart and laugh mischievously when they are not moving.
    • The fart gas behaves the same way as the Farting Toadstool's.
    • When Furblings faint, they will either instantly play a sound of them reacting in disgust (2 instances of either them saying at least one "ew", a short disgusted grunt or coughing while possibly saying a word or two), or in 0.8145363 seconds, will play a semi-conscious sound of them fainting.
    • If a Furbling dances, more will start to join in.
  • Certain files in the game, including unused voice lines, indicate illnesses' and injuries were supposed to be separate Furbling statuses, or at least variants of each other instead of the same status.
  • Some Furblings have different names in the files:
    • The Sun and Moon Furblings are listed as common instead of rare.
    • The name for TV Lover Furbling is "TV Junkie".
    • The name for Hurricane Furbling is "Powerful Lungs".
    • The name for Roman Furbling is "Roman Emperor".
    • The name for Hyper Furbling is Hyper Active".
    • The name for Cotton Candy Furbling is "Candy Floss".
    • The name for Candy Skull Furbling is "Day of the Dead".
  • There are a few recording flubs with certain voice lines.
    • The Whacky Furbling's first dislike voice line has a small metallic clank audible in the middle.
    • The Whacky Furbling's second "short whoa" fart pass-out voice line has a microphone bump audible at the end.
    • The Whacky Furbling's second "coughing" fart reaction voice line has a slight shuffling audible until the end.
  • While only 4 of the 5 eggtypes (bronze, silver, gold and diamond) are used in the game, there was planned to be a fifth rarity called either Celestial (which is the title for it in-game) or Ultimate (what its filename is).
  • While there are only 4 sets of voicelines for each Furbling when dirty or ill unlike when they are hungry, there are unused voicelines for the Furblings when they are so, as well as voicelines for them being injured. These voicelines are labelled as "VO_(Furbling Voice Name)_Cleaning_Needs", "VO_(Furbling Voice Name)_Care_Ill" and "VO_(Furbling Voice Name)_Care_Injured". While the "Injured" voicelines being cut is because Furblings can only get ill in the final game, it's unknown why the former two sets are unused, since all voicelines regarding Furblings being hungry are used but it's possible that they aren't used because only one idle animation exists for these statuses unlike hunger.
    • The Dirty voicelines may also not be used because of two of each consist of Furblings grumpy and impatient about you not cleaning them, and the Ill voicelines might be unused because they might have been deemed too upsetting and/or because they have the Furblings vomiting, which may have been seen as inappropriate.
