Me Sleep Again (MSA) is a common fault condition that occurs in 1998 Furbys. A Furby with MSA will continuously fall asleep during or after its wake-up cycle, saying "Me sleep again," "Kah way-loh koh-koh," "Kah sleep koh-koh," or "Kah way-loh again" depending on which development stage it's in.
- This feature is intended to prevent the Furby from waking up when not in the upright position.
- Some Furbys appear to lack this behavior entirely, suggesting it was introduced at a certain point. [original research]
Example[]
Causes[]
- Tilt sensor reported in an incorrect location.
- Tilt sensor is broken.
- Tilt sensor is dirty.
- Tilt sensor has oxidation.
- Broken tilt sensor wires.
Fixes[]
These fixes may not work on the first try, and may not fix the Furby for future wake-ups.
- Replace the batteries
- Turn the Furby upside-down and gently shake it
- Keep waking the Furby up until it works
- The Furby might refuse to wake up several times in a row as a result of regular random behavior and not a failed tilt sensor unless this behavior is persistent.
- Hard restart (due to the tilt sensor not working, the name and personality will be retained) [original research].
- Hold the Furby upside-down
- Put finger in mouth and hold down the tongue
- While pressing the tongue, press the reset button on the bottom of the Furby
- If the Furby is awake, do a soft reset (in attempt to fix future wake-ups)
- Press the reset button on the bottom of the Furby.
- Replacing the tilt sensor wires (advanced)
- Tilt sensor wires are thin and small, making them easily damaged internally. This can be diagnosed by using a voltmeter and performing a continuity test on the wires.
- Soldering new wires onto the tilt sensor is an effective way to fix this issue.
- Clean the tilt sensor (advanced)
- There are three known types of tilt sensors used. All of these can be cleaned. One can be cleaned easier than the others. Click here for a guide.
- Using "Caig DeOxit D5" on tilt sensors improves continuity test results compared to cleaning alone, as it removes oxidation and enhances conductivity.
- Replace the tilt sensor (advanced)
- Replacing the tilt sensor is the only 100% effective fix for MSA. Finding a new replacement tilt sensor is extremely difficult due to it being a custom 2-way tilt sensor. The easiest is from a donor Furby.
Trivia[]
- A Furby exhibiting this behavior can be seen in a video featuring Caleb Chung, the creator of Furbys, here.

The 2 end ones are smaller and are a different design to the larger ones in the middle.

The base of the 6 tilt sensors. The outer 2 have metal plates that are soldered directly to the PCB. while the first Tilt sensor has a deeper notch on an angle, that allows the top plate to slide into place.
