Guli Elf (Furby Fake)

Guli Elf (咕力小精灵 in Chinese) is a Chinese Furby knockoff by Moral Region that was launched in 2017. ^[1] It was publicly displayed at the 2017 CBME Children, Baby, and Maternity expo in Shanghai in October. ^[2]

Name[]

The toy was created to resemble a character called Li Gu Li (or "Green" according to English-dubbed videos^[3]) from a Chinese show for toddlers called GuliGuli. However, the character from the franchise bears no resemblence to Furby. As the name implies, it was also created to resemble Furby. In China, a Furby is called a "Phoebe Elf" (菲比精灵), hence the fake received the name, "Gu Li Elf".

Appearance[]

The toy has a red beak that moves, a yellow eye frame with a green triangular sticker on each side of its eyeframe, a pair of eyes that are blue with green, a green pair of arms with hands, and a green pair of legs. It also has a green pair of small ears with white insides. It has a yellow flower on its head, and a short green tail that makes the same sound a Fuzzy Wonderz tail makes when it is pulled. Its eyes light-up with white lights that flash while it speaks. Gu Li Elf also has three green spikes on the left and right of its face.

Functions[]

The knockoff can be tickled, pet, and respond to 11 phrases. Most of the phrases it responds to are in Chinese. Only three of them can be given to the toy in English. You can ask Gu Li Elf to tell you a story or sing you a song, and you can say hello to it or ask it "How are you?". This knockoff can repeat your voice and responds to an app which allows you to feed it sandwiches you can make, using the app, snacks, and drinks. It allows users to give it medical treatments such as injections or medicine or to use things such as medicine, soap, towels, or a stethoscope by flinging the items on the app towards it.
