Like Interactive Pikachu, Interactive Meowth was mentioned in the "News" section on the official Furby website. Both toys appeared at the International Toy Fair in 2000 according to the Furby website. The website claims that Interactive Pikachu and Interactive Meowth "display the personalities and characteristics Poke-collectors know and love".[3] An article from Kidscreen which was referring to Interactive Pikachu and Interactive Meowth says that both toys are likely larger than Furby and would have had a higher retail price than Furby because of "new features".[4]

According to a toy fair catalogue by Tiger Electronics from 2000, Interactive Meowth can move his ears, tail, mouth, and eyes. Like Interactive Pikachu, the toy is said to have a vocabulary of more than 150 words and sounds. According to the catalogue and the Kidscreen article, Interactive Meowth is said to be able to "learn its owner's voice and be trained to follow commands over time".[5] Interactive Meowth can learn skills that can be used in battle against Interactive Pikachu or other Pokemon. Interactive Pikachu and Interactive Meowth can challenge each other when put together.
